West Virginia University holds inaugural 'Demo Day'

MORGANTOWN, W.Va - Hundreds of West Virginia University students, faculty, and staff from a wide variety of departments and colleges participated in WVU's inaugural Demo Day on Thursday. 

Nearly 70 students and faculty presented their entrepreneurial ideas, prototype designs, and business ventures to the WVU community during the Demo Day Expo.

Hundreds of ballots were cast and five cash prizes were given to winners. 

The following exhibits were the winners:

Auto Mosaics
NextGen Multifunctional Structural Retrofit System
Mountain Mamma Stomp Pads

"They are in kind of a Science Fair or trade show setup and are able to talk to people about their innovations and designs because they want to move their ideas forward," said Mindy Walls, Assistant Vice President for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at WVU. 

Eight events were hosted by different colleges and programs as part of Demo Day, beginning at 9:30am and concluding at 7:30pm.
