A New Spin on the Textile Industry

|

       Yi Hong Li Headshot

Hi, my name is Yihong Li. I am the founder of Tottico, a name inspired by the Greek word for “local.” I’ve spent the past ten years working across different parts of the textile industry, from product development to supply chain operations. During that time, I saw how much craftsmanship, skill, and economic opportunity the U.S. lost as production shifted overseas. Those experiences shaped my belief that local manufacturing still has a place, not only for quality and speed, but for community and sustainability. Tottico grew out of that conviction and my desire to build something rooted in intention, transparency, and local impact.

How it Started

I started Tottico with a clear mission: to offer high quality and uniquely designed apparel, provide fast and reliable turnaround for business customers, and create meaningful work opportunities for local talent. After nearly a decade in the textile industry, I’ve seen both the challenges and the opportunities within today’s global supply chain. Tottico is my way of contributing to a better model, one that brings production closer to home, supports local communities, and delivers thoughtful, small batch apparel that people feel good wearing.

The Business Now

Tottico has grown quickly over the past six months. One of our first collaborations was with WVU fashion design students, who helped create a special edition winter beanie collection. That project has continued to develop and reflect our commitment to working closely with local talent and creative communities. As the business has expanded, we’ve begun supporting a wide range of clients with high quality, small batch apparel. Recent work includes custom products for the Women’s Energy Network, TechConnect WV, and several local sports groups including the WVU Volleyball Club and Mountaineer United Soccer Club. Whether it’s community driven apparel, event merchandise, or team gear, Tottico focuses on thoughtful design, reliable turnaround, and products that bring people together.

How the LaunchLab has Helped

I’ve learned so much from the LaunchLab. Before joining, I had never pitched before, so I started from the basics: understanding the structure of a strong pitch: the question, the problem, the solution, and the ask. LaunchLab provided coaching, rehearsal sessions, and guidance that helped me refine both my deck and my delivery. I also got supported with content creation and marketing visuals. What mattered even more was the ongoing support system they created. LaunchLab has been a community hub for me, a place that continues to help both me and Tottico grow.
