The name Two Birds comes from our family names; Melanie is a Martin (Purple Martins) and Greg a Finch (Gold and Purple Finches). Two Birds was just a great combination of our names for our farm. Primarily, our farm is a choose and cut Christmas tree from. This comes from family tradition, going and cutting a Christmas tree was one of the high points of Christmas for me. My wife and I are really strong believers in families and promoting fun, healthy activities for families to do together.
The Biggest Hurdle
There was one time we were in the middle of Pennsylvania, halfway there to visit a property and we got a call from a realtor. We had scheduled to go look at this property in Virginia and it had been sold that day even knowing that we were coming. This was during the pandemic and at that point real estate was just insane and how quickly it was turning over. This situation was pretty discouraging because something similar has happened to us a numerous amount of times. It was a real blessing when we got this property.
My Advice
My advice is to keep your eye focused on the prize. What is the outcome that I want and not what are the struggle I’m in right now. I can tell you at my age, that somebody just starting out, a young entrepreneur, what you don’t recognize is that a year or two is actually a really short amount of time.
How the LaunchLab Helped
The LaunchLab was a huge help. I mean just having somebody to talk to, having somebody to listen to what I had to say and give me some pointers. So even being fairly experienced and confident in my presentation skills the LaunchLab was really a huge help to us.
