Dimas Dutra

TEACHING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND AEROSPACE ENGINEERING
Cohort 7: 2023-2025
Dr. Dutra has worked as a researcher and educator for over 8 years in the areas of Mechatronics, Robotics and Aeronautics. As a Teaching Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, he has taught courses on Automatic Controls, Mechatronics and UAVs. Dr. Dutra's proposal for the IDEA Faculty Fellows Program consists of modifying the sophomore-level mechatronics course to explore how what is learned can be applied throughout the student's academic career at WVU (in clubs, research, capstone projects, and collegiate competition teams) and beyond. The students shall then apply design thinking to develop an idea, pitch it, and build a functional prototype using Internet of Things (IoT) devices, 3d printers, and other rapid prototyping tools.
